Description
Some of the minerals present in the Dead Sea salts are as follows.
• Magnesium: the concentrations found in the Dead Sea are forty times higher than the salts of other seas. Magnesium is essential for cellular metabolism. For example, a significant magnesium deficiency was found in the skin scales and serum of patients with psoriasis. Magnesium presumably influences the maturation of the skin cells of patients with psoriasis. Also, in cases of bronchial problems, magnesium works as an antiallergic agent.
• Potassium : improves oxidation and regulates the electrical process of muscles and the nervous system. Asthmatic patients get good results from inhaling salt vapors.
• Bromide: the concentration is 50 times higher than common salts, thus having a very relaxing effect.
• Bitumen: In addition to other Dead Sea minerals found in smaller quantities, salt contains a natural tar called bitumen which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent.
• Chlorine: necessary to maintain the correct balance of alkaline and acid in the body, as well as being vital for cell metabolism.
• Iodine: it is necessary for the production of the hormone thyroxine and it is also vital for energy and cellular metabolism.
• Calcium: needed to strengthen cell membranes and clean pores. It is also vital for the production and maintenance of healthy teeth and bones, along with the muscle and nerve regulation of the heart.
